Another Friday, another opportunity to release some films with Asian-Americans. But don’t be disappointed in this lack of presence, dear readers. Next week, the San Francisco Asian Film Festival begins, featuring the greatest new releases from this side of the pond and beyond. It also includes the premiere of Quentin Lee’s White Frog. And, as always, if we’ve missed anything, let us know in the comments. So grab your popcorn, and prepare for this week’s Friday Features (links go to trailers).

Project X

It’s the party of the century, and everyone’s invited, unless you’re Asian-American. Loosely based on a party in Australia that saw some 500 people and $20,000 in property damage, Project X offers plenty of stupid fun to bring into thoughts of spring break.

Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax

A boy must confront the grumpy Lorax to win the affection of a girl in this Dr. Seuss adaptation. Perhaps there’s a metaphor for being Asian-American in here, but this is no Up. It does feature Iranian-American Nasim Pedrad of "Saturday Night Live" fame, as well as Zac Efron and Danny DeVito.

Overall rating this week: D-

Ratings are based on trailers and cast lists from IMDB.com.
