Skin Care For a Hot Day

By

While intern Christy is away, I’ll be trying to fill her shoes by bringing you a semi-regular look at the latest in Asian-American beauty products and trends, for both men and women.

Ladies

This week, we’re taking a gander at how to pamper your face when the thermostat climbs above 90. Shinto Clinical, a new beauty product line by Kimora Lee Simmons, is perhaps the answer.

Shinto Clinical’s Pore It Out Instant Pore Concealer & Treatment with Silktek purports to minimize pores, while reducing shine and the oil that clogs them in the first place. It conceals enlarged pores with a matte finish to keep your skin smooth and less prone to storing dirt. At $45 per 1 oz. bottle, Pore It Out isn’t cheap, but could offer the layer of protection you’re looking for as you venture out into the furnace of summer.

Gents

For the men in the audience, taking care of our skin is just as important. It can seem like a bother to wash your face every morning, but someone has to do it, and your mother probably isn’t interested in sending you hot towels to help do it for you.

To aid in preventing enlarged pores and reduce the signs of aging, try Every Man Jack’s Face Lotion Age Defying (currently sold out online, but check your local drugstore or grocery store). Using what it calls Phepha-tight marine extracts, this lotion helps smooth skin and improve elasticity. It comes with an SPF 15 treatment that helps protect against sun damage, a leading contributor to older-looking skin. Apply after your shave and every time you wash your face to help maintain that baby smoothness, even when the rest of your body is sopping sweat.
